My Story

I am a freelance writer, editor, and fact checker based in Minneapolis and Lima, Peru. I work for a range of clients, from traditional journalism outlets to nonprofits and university alumni magazines

My passion is telling human stories with layers of place, environment, and identity. I’ve brought my expertise in tackling complex subjects to outlets including The Guardian, Smithsonian magazine, The Imprint, Chalkbeat, The New Republic, American Prospect, and more. A crowning achievement was a story I wrote for Smithsonian magazine about a controversial international airport under construction in Chinchero, Peru, which was the result of months of reporting and dozens of interviews in English and Spanish.

Before launching my own freelance business, I worked as a digital news editor at NBC Chicago and the Chicago Tribune, where I co-created a podcast mini series about the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, which was a finalist for a Peter Lisagor Award

In 2020, I graduated from New York University with a master’s degree in global journalism, with a focus on Latin America. While studying, I spent two years learning Quechua and also edited the Latin America News Dispatch, which included a daily newsletter and weekly podcast.
