All I’ve ever wanted to be is a writer, and I feel lucky to do it every day.
I got my professional start in journalism. My first gig was as a digital news editor for NBC Chicago and the Chicago Tribune, and then I moved to New York to earn a master’s degree in journalism from NYU. There, I took classes on long-form reporting and Latin American studies, and even studied the Andean language Quechua for four semesters.
In 2020, I began my journey as a freelancer and have built up my list of clients to include large outlets like The Guardian and Smithsonian magazine to smaller, focused news outlets like Work Shift (covering workforce development) and The Imprint (covering child welfare). I also began using my interviewing and narrative skills to write for nonprofits and universities and to help scholars and researchers tell their own stories and share their important work with the world.
I am an avid traveler and have been living in Lima, Peru, for the last few years with my partner and visiting as much of South America as I can. I’ve sharpened my Spanish and have even gotten to practice my Quechua on trips to mountains! In the Spring of 2025, we’ll be heading back to the U.S. to live in Chicago.
When I’m not traveling, you’ll find me enjoying a good book at home, working on a novel of my own, cuddling with my cat Ramona, and trying out new dishes to cook.
