Journalism
I write on a range of topics, including education, child welfare, travel, immigration, and economic development, but I consider myself a generalist who enjoys the challenge of taking on any new topic.
My work has appeared in publications including The Guardian, Smithsonian magazine, the Chicago Tribune, The New Republic, American Prospect, The Imprint, Chalkbeat, and more.
Writing for Universities & Nonprofits
With more than a decade of interviewing and writing experience, I use my storytelling skills to write informational pieces, profiles, and promotional material for university alumni magazines and nonprofits.
Past clients include the University of Minnesota, UCLA Anderson School of Management, GreatSchools, and The Giving List.
Editing
I offer editing for books, websites, and articles on a project or consistent basis. Having been on both sides of the reporting and editing process, my goal in editing is always to preserve the voice and intention of the writer while polishing and clarifying to make it more readable.
I also have several years of experience as a digital news editor and understand the importance of SEO and keywords when editing for the web.
Fact-Checking & Research
For high-caliber reporting in magazines and books, I offer fact-checking services at an hourly rate — and frequently catch errors. I approach fact-checking as essentially reporting in reverse. If you’re looking to make your book or article airtight before releasing it to the world, let’s talk.
